Please read the above article so that we may discuss. Go ahead, I'll wait....
Finished yet?
Now?
Are you done ?
Ok... let's go.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?!!?
"Chanting “never again!,” more than two dozen demonstrators at New Orleans City Hall protested “inhumane” conditions at state evacuation shelters in northern Louisiana."
"Inhumane" conditions? do you think maybe the shelters were just fine for the amount of people they were intended for but maybe, just maybe they became overwhelmed by the crowds? Let me clarify that further. The crowds of people that should have taken care of themselves but relied on the state to be their savior.
The protesters then passed peacefully through metal detectors at City Hall, en route to Mayor Ray Nagin’s office, with 1,200 petition signatures demanding changes in the way the state shelters indigent evacuees.
“I blame (Gov.) Bobby Jindal for implementing a policy that forced me into humiliating conditions,” said Harriet Humes, one of 18,000 “city-assisted” New Orleans residents who evacuated the city by bus and rail ahead of Hurricane Gustav.
Why do you blame Jindal for your own lack of planning? Why is it Jindal's fault that you fall into the "indigent" category? Why isn't your family or friends acting responsible for you? If you are indigent and incapable of caring for yourself why would you move back into New Orleans after Katrina in the first place?
“We were forced to live 1,500 people in a room, without access to running water,” she said. “Mothers had to wash their babies out of (water) bottles in disgusting outdoor portable toilets. Diabetics were stuck without food.”
Diabetics without food? Did you not know you were diabetic before you got on the bus? You didn't bring anything with you? Nothing??? As for moms..No baby wipes? Did you not pack a diaper bag? Don't give me the excuse that you were so rushed you forgot or couldn't bring anything. You had plenty of warning before this storm. Your lack of planning is no one's fault but your own.
But Patricia Tate, a passer-by, called Monday’s demonstration “deplorable.”
A mother of four adult children, including one with a mental disability, Tate said Jindal and Nagin should not be faulted for the shortcomings of the Gustav evacuation. Tate said anyone who lived in Louisiana when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on Aug. 29, 2005, had three years to make their own evacuation plans — rather than wait for a government-funded exit.“My mother always said if you point a finger at someone — there’s four fingers pointing back at you,” said Tate, who is working on a master’s degree in counseling at the University of New Orleans.
I am so glad someone else said it!! You have had 3 years to get your shit together. In fact, you have had your entire adult life to make a disaster plan. You live on the GULF COAST!!! Why is the whole hurricane thing coming as a shock to you?!?!?
Why do some people expect everyone else to be responsible for their needs and to spoonfeed them everything? What makes them so special that the rest of us need to wait on them? Take your life into your OWN hands and be RESPONSIBLE for yourself..

Sarah Palin..Rock star?
Ever since JM announced Sarah (SP) as his running mate people have been going nuts. I for one have become a quick fan of the lady from up north. She is smart, strong, and able. It amazes me that some news outlets with less than unbiased intentions have gone so far to find dirt on her that they have scrutinized a beauty pageant she was in some 20 years ago!! Can you believe that? They said they are investigating claims that she cheated!!! OMG!! and the very ugly rumors that her youngest son Trig is actually the child of oldest daughter and currently knocked up Bristol. Look just cause B is pg now doesn't mean she has been before. How crazy is that? As for the Dem folks knocking her level of experience in multiple attempts..come on. She has been an elected official for many years. That is something the Senator from Illinois can not say. He is a senator. He has ONLY been a senator. NO OTHER ELECTED POSITIONS. Period. She is a GOVERNOR. OF A STATE. That is a big deal folks even if dems want to knock the legitimacy of being Alaska's gov. I also think all this dismissiveness of Alaska and it's value as a state coming from the Dems is going to really bite them in the ass eventually. If Alaska isn't worth their bother, what other states do they deem unimportant? Ohio? Louisiana? North Dakota? That is a slippery slope on which they tread. Careful, Barack..you may just fall there.

Hurricane madness
I have lived on the Gulf coast my ENTIRE life. I have always been sure to prepare myself for hurricanes. I have never expected the government to provide for me when something happens. What is the deal? Why are so many people jumping out of their skin because they think the authorities should be handing them freebies left and right b/c they failed to get hurricane ready? No free ice? How awful that you have to buy your own!! I should give the National Guard a bill for the 10 bags of ice I bought with my own money. No water? Again, I am billing the gub'ment for the water I have stockpiled at my house. Why should I have to spend my own money to take care of myself? The government should do it for me and for free. Plus I want a check for "just because". Yup..that's it. Could someone come spoonfeed me as well? I need help getting dressed too.

Why do Hurricanes bring out the ignorant?
If they said MANDATORY EVACUATION and then after the storm said DO NOT RETURN why are you returning and bitching that there is no one there to wipe your butt??
