You have got to be kidding me...

Please read the above article so that we may discuss. Go ahead, I'll wait....

Finished yet?

Now?

Are you done ?

Ok... let's go.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?!!?

"Chanting “never again!,” more than two dozen demonstrators at New Orleans City Hall protested “inhumane” conditions at state evacuation shelters in northern Louisiana."

"Inhumane" conditions? do you think maybe the shelters were just fine for the amount of people they were intended for but maybe, just maybe they became overwhelmed by the crowds? Let me clarify that further. The crowds of people that should have taken care of themselves but relied on the state to be their savior.

The protesters then passed peacefully through metal detectors at City Hall, en route to Mayor Ray Nagin’s office, with 1,200 petition signatures demanding changes in the way the state shelters indigent evacuees.
“I blame (Gov.) Bobby Jindal for implementing a policy that forced me into humiliating conditions,” said Harriet Humes, one of 18,000 “city-assisted” New Orleans residents who evacuated the city by bus and rail ahead of Hurricane Gustav.

Why do you blame Jindal for your own lack of planning? Why is it Jindal's fault that you fall into the "indigent" category? Why isn't your family or friends acting responsible for you? If you are indigent and incapable of caring for yourself why would you move back into New Orleans after Katrina in the first place?

“We were forced to live 1,500 people in a room, without access to running water,” she said. “Mothers had to wash their babies out of (water) bottles in disgusting outdoor portable toilets. Diabetics were stuck without food.”

Diabetics without food? Did you not know you were diabetic before you got on the bus? You didn't bring anything with you? Nothing??? As for moms..No baby wipes? Did you not pack a diaper bag? Don't give me the excuse that you were so rushed you forgot or couldn't bring anything. You had plenty of warning before this storm. Your lack of planning is no one's fault but your own.

But Patricia Tate, a passer-by, called Monday’s demonstration “deplorable.”
A mother of four adult children, including one with a mental disability, Tate said Jindal and Nagin should not be faulted for the shortcomings of the Gustav evacuation. Tate said anyone who lived in Louisiana when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on Aug. 29, 2005, had three years to make their own evacuation plans — rather than wait for a government-funded exit.“My mother always said if you point a finger at someone — there’s four fingers pointing back at you,” said Tate, who is working on a master’s degree in counseling at the University of New Orleans.

I am so glad someone else said it!! You have had 3 years to get your shit together. In fact, you have had your entire adult life to make a disaster plan. You live on the GULF COAST!!! Why is the whole hurricane thing coming as a shock to you?!?!?

Why do some people expect everyone else to be responsible for their needs and to spoonfeed them everything? What makes them so special that the rest of us need to wait on them? Take your life into your OWN hands and be RESPONSIBLE for yourself..
